Regnié is at the heart of the great Beaujolais appellations,
the vines spread over 620 hectares
on a pink granite soil, this gives land that is shallow, light and
rich in mineral elements.
The
vines are planted on slopes at an average altitude of 350 meters
above sea level,
they are mainly south-east facing. A local historian describes Régnié-Durette
as offering its face to three suns.
To the
north the relief rises beyond a coomb, so that to the east, the
south and the west
the sun illuminates all the plots of vines.
The
Gamay noir "jus blanc" grape variety, the only one used
in the Beaujolais winemaking region,
finds in the Beaujolais soil all the very best conditions for its
growth, drawing on the mineral wealth
that gives our wines their unique aromas and flavours.
